Mid Century, 1940’s flower motif wool kilim runner rug from the Gümüşhane province in northern Turkey. This is a truly exceptional piece with a pattern reminiscent of the 60’s and the flower child love movement although it is decades older. The esoteric symbolism of the flower used throughout the Anatolian region is a most positive representation of beauty, love, growth and the Edenic garden itself. The composition of this piece is natural plant dyed wool and the flat weave technique is one which is meant to withstand lifetimes of wear.
Colour palette: pale seafoam green, pumpkin orange, indigo blue, saffron red and dark chocolate brown.
This pre-loved vintage rug is in superb condition and has been very well preserved.
