Absolutely stunning set of vintage undyed, natural coloured angora goat hair Tulu rugs handmade in Bulgaria in the 1970’s. These cream and beige-brown Tulu rugs are sumptuously dense and display a subtle yet visually appealing tonal variation inherent of the natural wool. Each lock of wool is bound by hand to the underlying flat weave and then combed and washed. This final process causes them to become extraordinarily soft and plush which is why nomadic mountain tribal peoples found them essential to keep warm in the harsh elements. In modern times they provide not only aesthetic effect but also practicality similar to their historical use. Perfect for lounging on the floor beside a fire, hung on the wall for insulation or solely artistic intent they also look glorious when used as bed covering adding a decadent texture and visual warmth. There are four pieces in this set and they offer great versatility of use. The two smaller squares would make for extravagant floor pillows or even a hanging headboard. The rectangle a phenomenal bolster and the large square a bedcover that is a bohemian dream.

Colour palette: natural, undyed cream and hints of beige-brown

These pre-loved, vintage rugs are in superb condition.

As with all of our collection, this historical rug fits beautifully in various aesthetic settings. Whether it be ethnic bohemian, period traditionalist or juxtaposed against a minimalist modern backdrop.
