Antique early 1900’s Anatolian Tulu rug from Konya, south of Ankara in Turkey. Hand dyed of from flora and fauna of the region. The Angora goat hair (mohair) wool is hand knotted using the Filiki technique of weaving together large knots of the long piled hairs creating this sumptuous shag effect. This one of a kind Tulu displays a phenomenal, playful geometric pattern of alternating triangles, diamonds and checkers. The juxtaposition of earth tones set off by vibrant and richly saturated colours create an undeniably striking aesthetic impact. Cream fringe finished at top and red fringe finished on opposite end.

Colour palette: cocoa brown, oxblood, ivory cream, pumpkin orange, saffron red, lavender and aubergine melange.

This antique, pre-loved rug is in good condition. There are no holes or stains though you will notice an area of the top edge towards the right corner that is a bit frayed as well as the central area of the rug displaying significant wear of the hairs as is typical of a rug that has been used in a high traffic area. We see such imperfections as a reflection of a unique life story, as character and panache.

As with all of our collection, this historical rug fits beautifully in various aesthetic settings. Whether it be ethnic bohemian, period traditionalist or juxtaposed against a minimalist modern backdrop.
